Save System, Bug fixes and more - 1.1 Update & Announcement
The Churchyard 1.1 Update
I'm excited to announce the release of the 1.1 Update for The Churchyard! This update introduces key new features and important fixes based on your feedback.
New Features
- Save System: You can now save your progress at Saviour Bells of the Lost. However, keep in mind that enemies will respawn after you die or reload the game, adding an extra layer of challenge!
Fixes
- Map Boundaries and Stuck Areas: Fixed issues where players could accidentally leave the map or get stuck in certain areas without a way to progress.
- Automatic Reloading: Ammo now reloads automatically when your clip is empty, so you no longer need to press the fire button again for the action to take place when the clip hits 0.
- Monster Part Glitches: Resolved an issue where dead monster parts would disappear or reappear unexpectedly by cutting meshes.
- Fade-In Movement Lock: Player movement is now locked during fade-in transitions to prevent unintended actions.
- Menu Mouse Clicks: Monsters no longer react to mouse clicks while you’re navigating the in-game menu.
- Dialogue Timing: Fixed the slight delay between the police dispatcher’s voiceover and the subtitle text, ensuring better synchronization.
Looking Ahead
We’re already planning the 1.2 Update, which will bring new content and further improvements based on your feedback.
Your Input Needed!
We’re also considering renaming the game to reflect plans for expanding it into a franchise. Future titles could include settings like:
- A cursed carnival with sinister clowns
- Transylvanian towns haunted by Christian religious demons
Which title resonates with you more?
- Cursed Steps
- Echoes in the Dark
- Or do you have another suggestion?
Let us know what you think!
Thank you for playing The Churchyard! Your feedback -whether positive or critical- drives us to make the game better and more enjoyable for you. We can’t wait to hear your thoughts on this update!

I've found a bug: You can still shoot and move the camera while the fade-in happens.
Ah, good catch! The movement is blocked and released as the screen clears from the fade-in, but you're right.. There are no restrictions on shooting during that time. Thanks for the feedback!
I like Cursed Steps the most :)
